Fossil & Hide
Long-time friends Karen Horn Smith and Jenny Watts first bonded over jewelry and music, trading pieces and records. Once they could no longer find what they were looking for, they started designing for each other. Their process is organic, and unconventional. It starts with a stone — the color, the way the light hits — and moves from there. Taking inspiration from ancient craft, Egyptian art and primitive techniques, each one-of-a-kind piece is formed out of metal by hand in their Atlanta, GA studio. Wearers of their work often describe it as a protective armor and the duo as their jewelry spiritual advisors; clients suit up in F&H before heading into a job interview, a doctor’s appointment, or their first gig. Having accessorized Atlanta’s underground elite for the better part of a decade, the future sees Fossil & Hide venturing into new territory with the launch of a bridal collection and a fine jewelry line.
